Not so simple

As I learn to draw landscapes, I've stuck to really simple images. I tried to draw this scene a week or so ago and gave up in despair at my inability to get it to work. Yesterday I had some time so I went and worked on it again. Today I went back to finish up the background. I liked it on Sunday and was sure I'd ruined it this morning. But, when I peeked at it a little while ago I thought I hadn't done as badly as I thought. In fact, I'm kind of pleased with it. Yeah, I am.

  1. to me that's not so simple a view to draw because there is a lot of texture and things are dense and in close proximity to each other! I think it works great; and it reminds me of a tapestry.

  2. Thanks, Deb! The hard part, for me, is to not get caught up in details. I do it all the time and then when I step back and look at the whole picture, it doesn't work anymore. Except that the details are what interest me most in an image! So I have to keep reining myself in so I can draw them but not get lost in them. Yeeshh!
